On what led to his strong final season at California: "Man, I feel like I worked extremely hard for four years at [UC] Davis. I feel like all that work just kind of came to a point, and I was just able to show what I was able to do on the national stage. I had great coaches [and] great teammates around me. Yes, just getting a chance to show that and really just put it all out there, and I think put together a good season."
On how much he talked with Ravens defensive coordinator Zack Orr who has linebacker experience: "Honestly, I haven't talked to the Ravens as much as other teams, but I'm just super grateful to get the opportunity, and I'm just going to give everything I've got to this organization. I'm just blessed to be here."
On his reaction when you found out it was the Ravens who drafted him: "Oh man, I was ecstatic. The Ravens are just a great organization and a team that I followed my whole life as a football fan. I think about Raven linebackers, obviously, Ray Lewis kind of epitomizes what a middle linebacker was for me growing up. So, I wasn't surprised; I kind of had a gut feeling that it was going to be a team that I didn't talk to, so I'm just grateful for the opportunity and just excited to give everything I've got."
On how familiar he is with the Ravens defense, schemes or players and what he can add to the defense: "For me really, I'm just going to add whatever coach needs me to add. First of all, it's just going to be effort and toughness and just consistency. I'm not really looking to do anything outside of my realm, just doing whatever coach needs from me and just whatever the team needs."
On how his quarterback background has helped him as a linebacker: "It helped in a bunch of ways, just understanding, first of all, the mentality of the quarterback [and] what things affect them. The processing speed of playing quarterback definitely translates right over to defense, and then just understanding offense and how they're trying to attack RPOs and different things like that, especially in college, so it definitely was helpful."
On if there is anything to the unique spelling of his first name: "That's a question for my parents, but I like it. I feel like it makes my name unique to me. It's Teddy with the 'E,' so yes."
On the potential to play special teams with the Ravens and learning from guys like ILB Roquan Smith: "For me, special teams is going to be a priority for me. I'm super excited to play special teams. I played special teams in college, played all four of [the special teams phases], so I'm super excited in that regard, and I'm super excited to learn from guys like Roquan [Smith] and just pick their brain and do everything I can to see how they're pros and just follow their lead."
On his interest in design and studying design at UC Davis: "I have a bit of an art background, so I went into design at [UC] Davis, and I learned a lot of cool things about design there. Then, I got my certificate in business administration at Cal, so a bit of a different route, but yes, design definitely stems from my art background."
