10 Ravens Veterans Who Benefitted From the Draft
Here are the players who were probably smiling seeing Baltimore's draft picks.

QB Lamar Jackson
Jackson got two shiny new targets in first-round wide receiver Rashod Bateman and fourth-round wide receiver Tylan Wallace. Both are strong route-runners who can make tough catches in contested situations, which will help Jackson's completion rate. Bateman is specifically good working over the middle, where Jackson loves to find his receivers, and in extended play situations. Wallace is more of an outside threat who could help Jackson stretch the field horizontally. The third-round selection of Ben Cleveland also upgrades Jackson's pass protection. In his 44 games and more than 1,200 snaps at Georgia, Cleveland didn't allow a single sack.

WR Marquise Brown
Bateman and Wallace's arrival should help open up the field more for Brown, who has the speed to create more big plays. Opponents won't be able to key in on Brown as easily, knowing they have to respect the potential of Bateman on the other side of the field.

TE Mark Andrews
Andrews was the other primary target for Jackson. He had 88 targets to Brown's 100. The next closest was Willie Snead IV at 48. Opposing defenses seemed to know Jackson was looking for Andrews over the middle, so more attention going to outside weapons (particularly by opposing safeties) should help open things up more for Andrews. Bateman and Wallace are also big-time red-zone threats, which will help Andrews in that area.

G/C Bradley Bozeman
Bozeman has been a very reliable left guard the past two seasons, but don't forget that he's been playing out of position. Bozeman was a center at Alabama, and a national champion at that. If Cleveland proves ready to be an instant starter, that would shift Bozeman back to his natural position, where he could thrive.

RB J.K. Dobbins
While Cleveland's pass protection will help Jackson, the biggest upside of the 6-foot-6, 357-pound blocker is his run blocking. Cleveland is a power, gap-scheme blocker perfectly suited to the Ravens' rushing attack. Bigger holes for Dobbins (and fellow running back Gus Edwards) only means bigger things ahead for Baltimore's dynamic runners.

LB Pernell McPhee
Pernell McPhee is still playing good football, but at 32 years old and with a decade of rugged play on his tires, McPhee is best when his snaps are managed. He was on the field for about 50 percent of the defensive reps last season. If the Ravens hadn't drafted Odafeh Oweh, another strong run defender who can help McPhee out, McPhee could have been in line for a taxing workload.

CB Marlon Humphrey
The past two seasons, Humphrey has had to bump inside to cover the loss of Tavon Young to season-ending injuries. While Humphrey has been up to the task and more, his best position is on the outside. Adding Brandon Stephens in the third round and Shaun Wade in the fifth gives Baltimore more options in the slot if something were to happen to Young, leaving Humphrey free to stay outside.

TE Nick Boyle
Boyle is coming off a season-ending knee injury. He's expected back in time for training camp, but the selection of fifth-round tight end/fullback Ben Mason gives the team and Boyle more time to get back up to speed. If the rookie needs to step in from time to time, he's capable of being a powerful blocker.

OLB Tyus Bowser
Bowser was the team's best outside linebacker in coverage last season, and he'll get some backup from fifth-round pick Daelin Hayes, who also excels when dropping back. That could free up Bowser to get after quarterbacks more. After signing a four-year extension this offseason, Bowser's place in the defense is solid.

S DeShon Elliott
This is more about who the Ravens didn't pick than who they did. There was buzz about the potential of Baltimore drafting a safety early in the draft (perhaps even the first round), but the Ravens didn't pick a true safety at all. That's a sign of faith in Elliott's long-term potential in the Ravens defense after he stayed healthy and was a strong 16-game starter for the first time last season.
