The Ravens' first week of training camp practices are over, and here's some important things we saw.

Rashod Bateman Is Impressing

Working against All-Pro corners Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters is a superb NFL crash course for the first-round receiver, and Bateman is making plays on a daily basis. He beat Humphrey for a touchdown catch at the stadium practice, and he runs patterns with the deceptiveness of a veteran.

Sammy Watkins Looks Smooth

Watkins' experience as the veteran member of the young receiver group is showing. He's getting separation from defensive backs with fluid movement and body control, doing some of his best work in the red zone. Coaches and players are talking about how happy they are to have Watkins in Baltimore.

Odafe Oweh Closes Quickly

The athleticism the Ravens saw when they drafted the rookie edge defender has stood out on the field. He had one particularly eye-opening play during Friday's practice, showing all of his speed while chasing quarterback Tyler Huntley. Oweh is displaying the quickness to make plays as a run defender and rusher.

Daelin Hayes Hunts Quarterbacks

Each quarterback has see Daelin Hayes coming in their peripheral vision. The fifth-round outside linebacker is finding ways to get in the backfield using power and finesse. The next step is to keep it going once the pads come on. But it was a good week for the rookie.

J.K. Dobbins Has Sure Hands

We know Dobbins is an electrifying runner, but he's determined to be a serious threat as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. The second-year running back looked good as a receiver all week, and adding him to the passing game mix will only make Baltimore's offense more dangerous.

Marlon Humphrey Is Chasing Greatness

Already one of the NFL's top corners, Humphrey is just 25 years old and hasn't reached his peak. He almost had a pick-six in Thursday's practice, and he's getting his hands on the football a lot. Humphrey had a career-high three interceptions in 2019, but don't be surprised if he surpasses that in 2021.

Calais Campbell Wants 100 Career Sacks

With 92 career sacks, Campbell has made it clear that he wants 100 for his career, along with a Super Bowl ring. He batted down several passes this week and played like a youngster instead of an established vet entering his 14th year. That's a great early sign for Baltimore's defensive line.

Trace McSorley Steps Up

Competing to be the No. 2 quarterback, McSorley took advantage of extra reps with Lamar Jackson unavailable and had his best week of practice as a Raven. His throws were accurate and he played with confidence. The passing offense produced big plays all week and McSorley was a major reason why.

Tyler Huntley Steps Up

Not to be outdone, Huntley was also sharp, particularly with his deep passing, and pinpointed some excellent throws in the red zone, putting the ball where only the receiver could catch it. Huntley also used his legs to create positive yards when nobody was open. The competition between Huntley and McSorley is off to a high level start.

Mark Andrews Looks Ready

Andrews broke out during Friday's practice and displayed the beast mode he had during mandatory minicamp. After making a leaping touchdown grab, Andrews spiked the ball with gusto, hurling it back toward the line of scrimmage. Andrews looks ready for Week 1 right now.

Josh Oliver Has Pass-Catching Skills

Oliver has a wide catch radius and consistently snared passes. Eli Wolf also had a solid week in his bid to be the No. 3 tight end behind Andrews and Nick Boyle, who is still out with an injury. More about the tight ends will be revealed during the coming weeks, but Oliver clearly has pass-catching skills.

Ben Cleveland Is Focused

Entering camp with high expectations, Cleveland got getting plenty of reps, knowing that this is just the beginning of his bid to win the starting job at left guard. The rookie will be tested even more once the pads come on, but like Hayes, Cleveland looked comfortable in his first week of Ravens camp.

Anthony Averett Returns Strong

Though he missed Wednesday and Thursday before passing his conditioning tested, Averett practiced Friday and Saturday as if he had never been away. Averett would have a chance to start on many teams, and his presence is part of what makes Baltimore's secondary the NFL's deepest.

James Proche II Could Be Breakout Player

Coaches want players to make a major leap from their rookie year to Year 2, and Proche seems poised to do exactly that. He was the standout receiver Thursday with two touchdown catches, and he also shined at Saturday's stadium practice. The competition at Proche's position is raising his game.

Safety Seems to Fit Brandon Stephens

He began college as a running back, switched to cornerback, but now safety seems to suit the third-round pick. He looked comfortable taking reps at safety, earning praise from coaches for knowing his assignments. Stephens needs to keep making progress, but he's off to a solid start.
