Houston and Defensive Coordinator Wink Martindale hinted that he will be deployed creatively to create 1-on-1 matchups.

Tavon Young Looks 100 Percent

Returning from a season-ending knee injury, Young says he's playing with no fear and it looks that way. His coverage was tight and his change of direction was quick. Young's presence as one of the NFL's best nickel cornerbacks could pay huge dividends for a Baltimore secondary that's already elite.

The Secondary Stood Out

The secondary shined all week and showed the potential for creating even more turnovers this season. Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters, Anthony Averett, and DeShon Elliott all had picks, and Peters had a highlight play after his interception, lateralling to Chuck Clark for a touchdown on the return.

James Proche II Keeps Making Plays

The competition at wide receiver is one of the major storylines of training camp, and Proche II has made an early statement with back-to-back strong weeks. With several wideouts battling injuries, Proche has taken advantage of the extra reps. He's making decisive moves and getting open consistently.

Mark Andrews' Intensity Elevates Practice

The defense has been having a hard time keeping Andrews from getting open. Even when the tight end makes a mistake, like losing a fumble Saturday, he bounces back looking more determined. The intensity he brings daily elevates the level of competition. Andrews seems driven to have a Pro Bowl season.

Patrick Queen's Awareness Has Quickened

After finishing third in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting, Queen wanted to improve his pass coverage in Year 2. He's recognizing pass routes more quickly and showing up around the football when balls are thrown in his direction.

Gus Edwards Looks Good

Edwards missed seven practices on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, but when he returned, it looked as if he had never been away. He has always been a powerful runner, but each season Edwards and gotten quicker, and his improvement as a receiving threat is obvious.

Justin Madubuike Keeps Impressing

Teammates and coaches are excited about the second-year defensive lineman and it's easy to see why. Madubuike has been fast off the ball in practices, and his power is making it difficult for offensive linemen to keep him out of the backfield. The potential for a breakout season is there.

Calais Campbell Means Business

The six-time Pro Bowler sets high standards for himself, and his first two weeks of training camp have been impressive. Campbell isn't sure how much longer he's going to play, but entering his 14th season, it's clear he wants his 2021 season to be memorable.

Odafe Oweh Is Learning Fast

Oweh's quickness is well-documented, but the first week of padded practices gave him a chance to show his physicality and an ability to set the edge. Oweh has the potential to be a complete outside linebacker, not just a pass rusher. Week 2 of camp was another positive step for the first-round pick.

Bradley Bozeman Is Settling In

Bozeman's transition to center was a storyline heading into camp, and it's going well. He has not missed a practice, showing the durability that is one of his strengths, and his snapping accuracy held up during padded practices. Bozeman looks comfortable with the position switch.

Tyler Huntley/Trace McSorley Continued Their Close Competition

The battle between Huntley and McSorley to be Jackson's backup will continue, but both young quarterbacks got valuable reps when Jackson was sidelined. Huntley made some very nice deep throws and McSorley made plays after escaping the pocket. Both are stating their case for the backup job.

DeShon Elliott Is Having a Solid Camp

Elliott caused a fumble Saturday and had one of his best practices after sitting out Friday with an illness. Elliott had a solid first year as a starting safety, but he seems ready to take his game to another level, with the potential for force more turnovers.

Tyus Bowser Has Stepped Forward

After creating consistent pressure on quarterbacks Saturday, Bowser worked with Houston on pass rushing technique after practice. Bowser has also been giving advice to young pass rushers Oweh and Daelin Hayes. By making himself available to teammates, Bowser is showing leadership.
