Biography

TYLER SANTUCCI joins the Ravens as the team's linebackers coach in 2025, with 15 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, most recently serving as Georgia Tech's defensive coordinator/linebackers coach in 2024. Prior to joining the Yellow Jackets, Santucci held various defensive roles for Duke (2023), Texas A&M (2018, 2020-22), Wake Forest (2014-15, 2019), Notre Dame (2017), Texas State (2016) and his alma mater, Stony Brook (2010-13).

  • As Georgia Tech's defensive coordinator/linebackers coach in 2024, the Yellow Jackets defense ascended to the ACC's fifth-ranked total defense (245.9) after ranking last in the conference in 2023 (437.1). The rush defense also jumped from last in 2023 (221.3) to sixth under his guidance.
  • In 2023, Santucci was nominated for the Broyles Award, honoring college football's top assistant coach, and helped lead the Blue Devils to the the ACC's top-ranked scoring defense (19.0 ppg), which also ranked 16th nationally.

2024: (with Georgia Tech) In his lone season as defensive coordinator/linebackers coach for Georgia Tech, Santucci's unit saw major improvements, ascending to the ACC's fifth-ranked total defense (245.9) after ranking last in the conference in 2023 (437.1). The rush defense also jumped from last in 2023 (221.3) to sixth under Santucci's guidance in 2024 (120.2). Redshirt sophomore LB Kyle Efford collected a team-high 64 tackles, including five tackles for loss and three sacks (despite missing two games due to injury), en route to third-team All-ACC honors. The Yellow Jackets, which earned their first AP poll ranking since 2015 after starting 2-0, finished 7-5 (5-3 in ACC play), producing two Top 15 wins, and made an appearance in the Birmingham Bowl vs. Vanderbilt.

2023: (with Duke University) As the defensive coordinator/linebackers coach for the Blue Devils in 2023, under head coach Mike Elko, Santucci led the ACC's top-ranked scoring defense (19.0 ppg), which also ranked 16th in the nation. He was nominated for the 2023 Broyles Award, honoring college football's top assistant coach, and led his team to a 17-10 win over Troy in the Birmingham Bowl.

2020-22: (with Texas A&M University) During his stint as co-defensive coordinator with Texas A&M in 2022, Santucci's unit ranked No. 2 in pass defense (156.2) and No. 9 in red zone efficiency (74.4%).

2019: (with Wake Forest University) Served as the linebackers coach, guiding LB Justin Strnad to All-ACC honors after he led the team in tackles per game. Helped the Demon Deacons to an 8-4 record and an appearance in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

2018: (with Texas A&M University) Helped the Aggies to a 9-3 record and a 52-13 victory over NC State in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl. The defensive unit, which included then-sophomore Nnamdi Madubuike, ranked in the Top 50 nationally for the first time in over a decade.

2017: (with University of Notre Dame) Assisted in the Irish's defensive turnaround, improving at least 20 spots in the national rankings for rush defense (72nd to 51st), pass efficiency defense (79th to 46th), scoring defense (62nd to 31st), third-down defense (60th to 37th), turnovers gained (104th to 50th), sacks (117th to 82nd) and tackles for loss (102nd to 58th).

2016: (with Texas State University) Served as the Bobcats linebackers coach, mentoring Bryan London II (Sun Belt Conference All-Newcomer Team) and Gabe Lloyd (All-Sun Belt selection by the head coaches) to postseason honors.

2014-15: (with Wake Forest University) Served as a graduate assistant for the Demon Deacons under Mike Elko for two seasons.

2010-13: (with Stony Brook University) 2013: In his first season working with the Seawolves' defensive line, Santucci assisted with defensive play calling and helped the unit earn the No. 2 rush defense (129.2) in conference play. 2012: Oversaw the safeties in his first role as a position coach. 2011: Helped DLs Ryan Haber and Roosevelt Kirk earn All-Big South honors. 2010: Earned his first coaching role as a graduate assistant for his alma mater.

COLLEGE: Santucci was a standout linebacker at Stony Brook University (2006-09)...He registered 284 tackles (ranking sixth all time in program history), 30.5 tackles for loss and five interceptions, earning Big South Defensive Player of the Year and becoming the Seawolves' first-ever AP All-American (second-team) as a senior in 2009...Santucci graduated from Stony Brook with a degree in sociology in 2010...Following his collegiate career, he was selected to the Big South All-Decade Team in 2013 and the Stony Brook Hall of Fame in 2022.

PERSONAL: A native of New Kensington, PA, Santucci, was a three-time first-team All-Conference LB and RB at Valley (PA) HS, earning Alleghany Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Valley News Dispatch Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2006, with 136 tackles and three interceptions.
