The Ravens waived veteran safety Eddie Jackson Saturday.
Jackson didn't make the trip to Pittsburgh last Sunday for reasons that Head Coach John Harbaugh declined to share.
"I really don't have anything to say about those personnel decisions that get made, or why they get made," Harbaugh said. "Some of those things are just in-house conversations that we have, and it stops there."
Baltimore signed the two-time Pro Bowler to a one-year, reported $1.5 million contract in July, sparking discussion that the Ravens had perhaps the best safety trio in the league. It hasn't worked out that way, however. Kyle Hamilton is the only one of the three still starting in Baltimore's defense.
Jackson is now gone and Marcus Williams is backing up Ar'Darius Washington, who has earned the starting job moving forward and got strong support from teammates and coaches this week after having a good game in Pittsburgh.
Jackson started every game he played in during seven seasons with the Chicago Bears. He started four of the nine games he played in as a Raven.
Jackson replaced Williams as a starter in Week 8 against Cleveland, but Jackson dropped multiple interceptions in the Ravens' 29-24 loss. He was inactive in two of the following three games as the Ravens went back to Williams, then to Washington.
Jackson is the 134rd-ranked safety in the league, according to Pro Football Focus, with a 50.7 grade. He was credited with surrendering 16 catches on 23 targets for 250 yards and three touchdowns for a passer rating against of 144.9.
The Ravens filled Jackson's roster spot by signing inside linebacker Kristian Welch from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Welch has played the past two weeks exclusively on special teams but could see some defensive action if Roquan Smith (hamstring) can't play in Los Angeles.
