It comes as no surprise, but the Ravens' roster moves at Tuesday's 53-man deadline confirmed that running back Keaton Mitchell and cornerback Arthur Maulet will miss at least the team's first four games.

Mitchell remained on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list while Maulet was placed on injured reserve – designated for return.

Mitchell suffered a major knee injury on Dec. 17 and has been sidelined since. At the start of training camp, Head Coach John Harbaugh said Mitchell was on, or maybe ahead, of schedule but wouldn't return until sometime during the season.

651: Reaction to Ravens' Roster Cuts

Our insiders, Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing, go position by position to break down the Ravens' roster cuts to 53 and discuss where moves could still be made.

Mitchell made the Ravens' roster last year as an undrafted free agent and burst onto the scene with game-breaking speed, averaging a whopping 8.4 yards per carry during his seven games played. He had 396 rushing yards, 93 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.

The Ravens have a new lead running back in Derrick Henry, who will be backed up by veteran Justice Hill. Rookie fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali also made the initial 53-man roster.

Once Mitchell returns to full strength, he will again add a different dynamic to Baltimore's offense and the perfect complement to the bruising Henry.

Here's who made the Ravens' roster at the beginning of the 2024 season.

Maulet underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in early August, after being one of the Ravens' top training camp performers through the first couple weeks. The veteran slot corner is a hard-nosed defender and blitzer who made 37 tackles, including five for loss, one sack, and one interception in 14 games played last season.

The Ravens have several other slot options for the time being, including safeties Kyle Hamilton and Ar'Darius Washington and cornerback Marlon Humphrey. But the defense will get a boost when Maulet returns.

Baltimore's first four games are against the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, and Buffalo Bills. Mitchell and Maulet will be eligible to return for the Ravens' Week 5 game against the rival Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 6.
