Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell has been placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of training camp.

Quarterback and injured veterans reported to the Under Armour Performance Center today. Mitchell suffered a season-ending knee injury on Dec. 17 in Jacksonville last year.

If Mitchell remains on the PUP list throughout training camp, he is eligible to move straight to the active PUP list, which means sitting out the first four games.

It's no surprise that Mitchell will start the season on the shelf, as Head Coach John Harbaugh said in May that Mitchell will return "sometime during the season."

"But I will say he's on schedule, maybe ahead of schedule. He's doing really well," Harbaugh said. "He's always got a smile on his face. He's going to start jogging on the Alter-G (treadmill) next week. So that's a positive thing and we'll see where it goes."

Mitchell broke onto the scene as an undrafted rookie last season, rushing for 396 yards in eight games. The speedster averaged a whopping 8.4 yards per carry, had seven rushes of 20 or more yards, and scored a pair of touchdowns.

His blazing speed with be a strong complement to veteran addition Derrick Henry when Mitchell returns this season. For now, Justice Hill and rookie fifth-round draft pick Rasheen Ali are expected to follow Henry in the rotation.

The Ravens also placed fourth-round rookie cornerback T.J. Tampa on the physically unable to perform list and rookie third-round rookie outside linebacker Adisa Isaac on the non-football injury list. Isaac missed Organized Team Activities and minicamp due to a hamstring injury.

Players are eligible to come off the PUP and NFI lists at any time during training camp.
