Lamar Jackson returned to the practice field Saturday after missing four days this week due to illness.
It was a positive sign for the NFL's reigning MVP, who had only participated once since full-team workouts began July 21.
Jackson practiced Wednesday after missing three days, but that return was short-lived. He practiced for about an hour before leaving the field and walking inside with athletic trainers.
Head Coach John Harbaugh gave an update following Friday's practice and expressed optimism that Jackson would be back soon.
"Fighting through an illness, working with our doctors, doing all the tests even more tests to make sure we've got everything covered," Harbaugh said. "I'm confident he'll be back pretty soon. It's just an unpredictable deal, I mean you guys have been sick before. Sometimes it's not easy. So that's what we're dealing with."
Jackson had previously practiced for several days before the full squad of veterans reported to camp. Quarterbacks and injured veterans joined rookies at camp on July 15.
