WHAT
Baltimore Ravens tight end Todd Heap will visit two Cecil County schools to introduce a new childhood obesity and fitness initiative on behalf of the National Football League and Maryland's dairy farmers. Heap will be at Cherry Hill Middle School on April 20 and Perryville Middle School in Perryville, Md., on April 21 to promote Fuel Up to Play 60.
Fuel Up to Play 60 is a new program created by the Baltimore Ravens, National Dairy Council and Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association that empowers students to makes changes at school that will help them get active and play for 60 minutes daily and fuel up with nutrient-rich foods missing from their diets – like low-fat and fat-free dairy foods, fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
The youth-led program empowers children and teens to take charge of their health and work with school leaders to create more opportunities for 60 minutes of daily physical activity and to make more healthy foods available. Since more than 50 percent of a student's daily calories are consumed at school, the school environment is an ideal setting for teaching these healthy behaviors so they become lifelong habits.
Fuel Up To Play 60 is a program of National Dairy Council and the NFL that supports student-led efforts to bring about change within their schools. This program shows student teams how they can responsibly and effectively engage key school and community leaders to help make their schools healthier environments. Learn more at www.FuelUpToPlay60.com or www.FuelUpToPlay60mediaresources.com.
Reporters and photographers attending any of the events are asked to report to the school's main office so they can be directed to the location where the player will be speaking.
All player participation arranged by NFL PLAYERS, the licensing and marketing subsidiary of the NFL Players Association.
