Next summer could look a lot different in the NFL. According to a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is finalizing a proposal that would change the timeline for offseason work.

Essentially, the proposal is asking to have the offseason workouts (similar to organized team activities) directly before training camp. How the schedule works right now, there's about a six-week gap from the end of OTAs to the start of training camp.

This change, which could happen as early as next offseason, is similar to how things operated during the pandemic. The NFLPA reportedly consulted with medical and performance experts to determine a different approach for reducing injuries, per Pelissero.

If the Players Association does file an official proposal, it still must be approved by NFL owners.
