Ravens defensive linemen [Haloti Ngata*and **Marques Douglas** *will host 'Shop With a Raven' this Monday, Dec. 22, at Dick's Sporting Goods in Hunt Valley, Md. For the event, Dick's annually donates $100 gift certificates to area youth. Ngata and Douglas matched the funds and will help to provide $200 gift certificates to 50 children from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Ngata, who lost his mother to complications from diabetes in 2006, has been a supporter of diabetes awareness and prevention since joining the NFL. JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of type 1 research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
Ngata and Douglas will join teammates, the Ravens' mascot Poe and Ravens cheerleaders as personal shoppers for the youth. In addition to the gift certificates, Dick's will provide a pizza party for the youth, who will also take home gift bags filled with Dick's Sporting Goods and Ravens goodies.
