Press Release - Ravens Players Provide Thanksgiving Meals to 1,500 Maryland Families

Several Ravens players will be in our community on Monday (11/22) and Tuesday (11/23) to extend a helping hand in Maryland's fight against hunger. Each year, 235,000 people throughout Maryland rely on community feeding programs to avoid going hungry, and annually, the Ravens organization and its players commit to making a difference by feeding Maryland families.

Monday, Nov. 22

  • Ravens S Ed Reedwill continue to serve the students of his adopted Booker T. Washington Middle School, providing Thanksgiving fixings to local families on Monday (11/22). Reed annually distributes Thanksgiving baskets to families associated with the Baltimore City school.
  • In partnership with the Howard County Association of Realtors, Ravens RB Willis McGaheewill provide Thanksgiving baskets for 200 families throughout Howard County on Monday (11/22). The Willis McGahee Foundation contacted Councilman Calvin Ball to identify benefactors.

Tuesday, Nov. 23

  • Ravens LB Ray Lewis will host his annual distribution of Thanksgiving baskets and toiletries to Baltimore families on Tuesday (11/23). This year, the event is at Bluford Drew Jemison Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Academy.
  • On Tuesday (11/23), the fifth-annual holiday dinner at the Helping Up Mission men's shelter in downtown Baltimore will be led by Ravens RB Ray Rice.He and teammates will serve a special meal to 275 men who live at or visit the residential facility.
  • For the second year in a row, RavensG Ben Grubbswill distribute Thanksgiving baskets to Baltimore-area, single-parent families on Tuesday (11/23). Grubbs increased the number of benefactors from 100 in 2009, to 150 this year.
  • Ravens LB Jameel McClainis partnering with the Salvation Army and the Baltimore City Chapter of Family Tree to extend a helping hand to families in need this holiday season. McClain will host a holiday reception on Tuesday (11/23), where 53 families (McClain's NFL jersey number is 53) will be presented with a Thanksgiving basket complete with a turkey and all of the trimmings.
