Ravens Agree In Principle With Dumervil

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed in principle to a five-year deal with three-time Pro Bowl DE Elvis Dumervil, general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced Sunday evening.

Dumervil, 29, is expected to be in Baltimore Tuesday morning to take a physical, and if he passes, the Ravens will make him available to media members afterward.

Dumervil, who spent the previous seven seasons with the Denver Broncos – missing the entire 2010 campaign with a pectoral injury – has totaled 264 tackles (193 solo), 63.5 sacks, 17 forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, one interception and 12 passes defensed during his career. Last season, he recorded 54 tackles (32 solo), 11 sacks, six forced fumbles and one pass defensed, earning Pro Bowl honors.

Since entering the league as a fourth-round draft choice out of Louisville in 2006, the 5-11, 260-pounder's 63.5 sacks are tied for seventh most in the NFL. Dumervil's 17 quarterback drops during the 2009 campaign ranked first in the NFL that season.

Dumervil has appeared in 91 career games, making 75 starts. He has registered double-digit sacks in three different seasons and posted 16 multi-sack games during his career.
