The Ravens signed two players to their practice squad Wednesday, bringing back linebacker Kristian Welch and adding cornerback Anthony Kendall to potentially boost their special teams units.
Welch was released by the Denver Broncos following their Week 6 loss. While he was playing mostly on special teams, Welch saw the most extensive defensive action of his career this year with 36 snaps, including one start.
Undrafted out of Iowa, he played his first three seasons in Baltimore, where he saw action in 43 games and made 21 tackles, primarily on special teams. The big-bodied linebacker played 44 defensive snaps over those three years. He played in 14 games last season with the Green Bay Packers.
Welch could help if linebacker Malik Harrison, who missed Sunday's game versus the Commanders with a groin injury, isn't able to suit up this week in Tampa Bay.
Kendall was released from the Tennessee Titans' practice squad last week and takes the spot of Damarion "Pepe" Williams, who was cut from Baltimore's practice squad Tuesday. Kendall played in 16 games last season for the Titans, almost exclusively on special teams.
The 5-foot-10 cornerback was undrafted out of Div. III Baldwin Wallace University, where he was the Ohio Athletic Conference defensive back of the year and a second-team Div. III All-American in 2022. Kendall was the first Baldwin Wallace alumni to play in the NFL since 1987.
