The Ravens added to their cornerback room by drafting Robert Longerbeam out of Rutgers in the sixth round (No. 212 overall).
Longerbeam was a three-year starter with the Scarlet Knights and had 42 passes defensed and five interceptions in his college career. At 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, Longerbeam is a bit undersized, but he ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the Combine.
Originally from Florida, Longerbeam played high school ball at T.C. Williams High in Alexandra, where his father, Jimmy, was his head coach. Longerbeam was a high school quarterback and practiced primarily at wide receiver as a freshman at Rutgers before making the move to cornerback.
Longerbeam was the Ravens' second cornerback taken on Day 3 after Baltimore selected Bilhal Kone (Western Michigan) earlier in Round 6 (No. 178 overall). With Nate Wiggins, Marlon Humphrey, and new addition Chidobe Awuzie as the presumed starters, Longerbeam and Kone will provide depth alongside T.J. Tampa and Jalyn Armour-Davis.
