Who's Out There?: Edge Rushers

EDGE Joey Bosa
EDGE Joey Bosa

The Ravens finished second in the NFL with 53 sacks last season, led by Kyle Van Noy (12.5) and Odafe Oweh (10).

However, Van Noy, Oweh, and David Ojabo are all entering the final year of the contracts and Baltimore is expected to add at least one edge rusher through the draft or free agency.

The free agency negotiating window opens on Monday, March 10 at 4 p.m. Here's who is available on the market:

Joey Bosa

The five-time Pro Bowler was released on Wednesday by the Los Angeles Chargers in a cost-cutting move. Bosa turns 30 years old in July and has missed 41 games during his nine-year career. However, he played 14 games last season with five sacks and 13 quarterback hits.

Khalil Mack

Over the past seven years, Mack's only had one season with double-digit sacks. But with 107.5 career sacks, including six last season with the Chargers, Mack will be sought after on the open market even at age 34.

Josh Sweat

Sweat dominated on the game's biggest stage with 2.5 sacks and six tackles during the Philadelphia Eagles' victory in the Super Bowl, and he will be rewarded handsomely. He'll have multiple suitors among teams looking for pass rushers.

Matthew Judon

The former Raven is back on the free agent market after 5.5 sacks and 41 tackles with the Atlanta Falcons in 2024. Judon will turn 33 years old in August but didn't miss a game last season while playing 59% of the defensive snaps.

Dante Fowler Jr.

The 30-year-old Fowler showed he had plenty of juice left in 2024 with 10.5 sacks for the Washington Commanders. Like Van Noy, Fowler could be a veteran who remains a consistent pass rusher late in his career.

Haason Reddick

Reddick held out the first seven games of the 2024 season, and it cost him as he produced just one sack for the New York Jets. However, Reddick had four straight seasons with at least 11 sacks from 2020-23. The team that signs him will hope he can return to top form at age 30.

Malcolm Koonce

Koonce missed the entire 2024 season with a knee injury but enjoyed a breakout year in 2023 with eight sacks for the Las Vegas Raiders. Still only 26 years old, Koonce is expected to draw interest from teams looking for pass rushers.

Baron Browning

A third-round pick with the Denver Broncos in 2021, Browning was traded to the Arizona Cardinals last season and has been plagued by injuries the past two seasons. He had five sacks in 2022, but it remains to be seen if he can return to top form.

Dayo Odeyingbo

Odeyingbo's production dropped from eight sacks in 2023 to three sacks in 2024 with the Indianapolis Colts. However, he had 33 quarterback pressures last season, according to Next Gen Stats, and the 25-year-old Odeyingbo hasn't missed a game the past three seasons.

Chase Young

The former second overall pick is still only 25 years old and enjoyed his healthiest season in 2024 since suffering a torn ACL in 2021. After playing all 17 games for the New Orleans Saints and producing 7.5 sacks, Young is in a stronger position hitting the open market.

Azeez Ojulari

Ojulari has been injury-plagued since collecting a career-high eight sacks as a rookie with the New York Giants. The team that signs the 24-year-old Ojulari will hope for improved health that helps him realize his potential.

DeMarcus Lawrence

Lawrence has spent his entire 11-year-career with the Dallas Cowboys and his 2024 season ended in October with a foot injury. If the 32-year-old Lawrence does not re-sign with Dallas, he may be an attractive option for a contender looking to add a veteran rusher.
