On a rainy day at training camp, two new Ravens made huge plays in the secondary.
The first came when Eddie Jackson, who signed with Baltimore on Sunday, stepped in front of a pass for pick-six. Then rookie first-round pick Nate Wiggins used his long reach to pluck a pass in front of a wide receiver for a pick.
With the wet weather and Lamar Jackson still not practicing due to illness, Monday's practice was headlined by the defense.
Here are more notes from Day 2 of training camp:
- Odafe Oweh was active in the backfield. He had a couple of nice rushes and blew up a run. He has looked fantastic during offseason practices.
- Nelson Agholor had one rep where he hauled in a pass with Marlon Humphrey in sticky coverage and made a sliding grab later in practice.
- Trenton Simpson had what would have been a sack on a blitz. He showed that speed that he's known for.
- Rashod Bateman had an impressive day. He made a catch falling to his back in the rain, plucking the ball off his shoelaces. He had a few other solid grabs, especially considering the conditions.
- Travis Jones was a presence in the middle. He stopped Justice Hill cold with one arm on a run up the middle. Then Jones clobbered Derrick Henry in the backfield on another play.
- Rookie running back Rasheen Ali had a good day. He made an impressive over the shoulder grab while falling out of bounds on a beautiful touch throw from Devin Leary. Ali also had what would have been a big run later in practice.
- Kyle Hamilton had a tackle for a loss on a run from Hill, hip checking one blocker to his right and then stringing the play out to his left. With the addition of Eddie Jackson, Hamilton should be able to play all over the defense like he did last season.
- Undrafted rookie Tramel Walthour had the defense's third pick of the day after he tipped a pass at the line to himself. The 283-pound defensive end nearly returned it for a touchdown as well.
- Kyle Van Noy burst into the backfield for a sack, drawing a big high five from Outside Linebackers Coach Chuck Smith.
- Rookie wide receiver Tez Walker ran into a wall named Roquan Smith over the middle of the field after a short catch.
- Justin Madubuike was dominant. He had a sack on Josh Johnson and a pressure that drew a holding penalty. He certainly looks like the Madubuike of last season, if not better.
