Nate Wiggins won't play in Sunday's home-opener against the Las Vegas Raiders after suffering a neck injury in a car accident, Head Coach John Harbaugh announced Friday.
"He's healthy, he's fine, but he's just not going to be able to play," Harbaugh said.
Wiggins practiced Wednesday but was out Thursday and Friday. It's the third car accident for a Ravens player in the past couple months, following tight end Mark Andrews and linebacker Josh Ross.
The first-round rookie cornerback played 17 snaps in his NFL debut against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1. According to Pro Football Focus, Wiggins allowed one catch for one yard.
Kyle Van Noy Returns to Practice, Questionable to Play
Baltimore did get some positive injury news on Friday. Just more than a week after suffering a fractured orbital bone in Kansas City, veteran outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy returned to the field Friday in a limited capacity.
Van Noy said on his podcast, “McCoy & Van Noy,” that it was a "pretty good fracture" suffered when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and then teammate Nnamdi Madubuike landed on top of him.
After Friday's practice, Van Noy said he's feeling "really good" and is "optimistic" he can play on Sunday but it's still to be determined. Harbaugh said they'll have to see how Van Noy is feeling Saturday.
"I still have two days," Van Noy said. "Trying to do everything I can. I'm just grateful for the specialists I have and the doctors that have treated me."
Ravens Rookie Is Doubtful
Ravens rookie outside linebacker Adisa Isaac is hoping to make his M&T Bank Stadium debut, but he's listed as doubtful to play after logging three limited practices this week.
Isaac is returning from his second hamstring injury of the summer and the Ravens don't want to rush him back into action.
"I feel good. I feel probably the best I've felt since coming into OTAs," Isaac said Wednesday. "I've just got to keep taking steps every day."
Raiders Rule Out Two Players
The Raiders will also be without a first-round talent as defensive end Tyree Wilson is sidelined by a knee injury. Wilson had 3.5 sacks as a rookie last year.
Las Vegas also ruled out backup cornerback Decamerion Richardson (hamstring). Rookie backup guard Jackson Powers-Johnson is questionable due to an illness that made him limited in practice all week.
