Head Coach Mike Tomlin
On losing to the Ravens, 28-14:
"Congratulations to the Ravens. They were the better group today. That was obvious. The X factor was Lamar [Jackson]'s unique talents. It seems like every time we got him behind the sticks, he made up for it, or we got him in a possession down circumstance, and he extended and won those circumstances. We never really found a fluid answer all day, obviously."
On the offensive struggles:
"We just weren't good enough, to be quite honest with you – a drop here and there and things of that nature. When you're playing good people, it really gets highlighted. We just weren't good enough."
DT Cameron Heyward
On the difficulty stopping the Ravens run game, which had 299 rushing yards:
"There were times we weren't in our gaps. There were times we didn't tackle well. Props to them. To [Derrick Henry] and [Lamar Jackson], they had a lot of success. I wish we had a better outcome. Guys fought, but to start the game 21-0 didn't really do ourselves any favors."
On Derrick Henry's 44-yard touchdown run right after the Steelers cut their deficit to 14:
"I think that was really tough because we were in a good defense that we called. I think we overplayed it, the zone read look with it, you know, everything has a part. If you're out of gap or you over play a part, it makes the defense susceptible. One thing I don't like is even if we have bad execution, we still have to get multiple hats to the ball, and we didn't do that today."
LB Alex Highsmith
On not being able to contain Baltimore's run game:
"We just weren't physical enough. We didn't work off enough blocks. We didn't make enough tackles, and you know that's what it is all about. To stop the run, you have to be physical. You have to make tackles and didn't do that enough tonight."
LB Patrick Queen
On if the Steelers knew the Ravens would lean on Lamar Jackson's legs:
"Yeah, most definitely. Like I said, we had the gameplan, we just didn't execute it. We didn't start fast. That's it."
S DeShon Elliott
On the Ravens dominated the run game:
"Having 300 yards rushing on you is worse than having 300 yards passing. They definitely put belt to butt today."
QB Russell Wilson
On where the execution broke down:
"They made a few key plays. I think we were down the sticks a little early. They had that big tackle to make it fourth-and-1, and they made some big plays on us unfortunately to stop us. I think the game felt like it was getting out of hand."
